The town has more than 25,000 inhabitants. Seligenstadt was founded around 100 AD by the troops of the Roman Emperor Trajan, and numerous artefacts from this period have been found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first written mention dates from around 815, the time of Charlemagne and his advisor and biographer Einhard. Einhard also built the Einhard Basilica and the local Benedictine monastery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The town centre has much to offer in terms of historic buildings, culture and other sights.
